I just attended the NYSCATE Conference in Rochester, NY. Gary Stager one of the speakers showed the video linked below. What a difference technology is making in our world. It is linking children to people and ideas that were unthinkable just a few years ago. More importantly the "One Laptop Per Child" project is helping some of the poorest countries in the world leapfrog into this young century. If you find yourself wondering about a charity to contribute to this holiday season then watch the video below and you will know what to do.

Recently at a workshop in Buffalo I had the opportunity to meet a very special 5th grader. Last December she decided to make a difference by asking people on her blog to carry out 25 acts of kindness during the month of December. She asked each person who visited the blog to pay it forward. The response to her blog was astounding. She had over 30,000 hits. The number of people who visited the site is amazing but so is this special 5th grader. While addressing our group she demonstrated poise and knowledge of cyber ethics and safety well beyond her years. She demonstrated that Web 2.0 Tools are very powerful as a means of communication and collaboration. With the help of her family she has created many acts of kindness that have been passed along throughout the world. Check out her blog. http://twentyfivedays.wordpress.com/
